World's Largest Sausage?
Here’s something you don’t see everyday!
Last weekend, Croatians cooked up what they claim to be the world’s largest sausage measuring 530 metres.
Hundreds of locals gathered in the main square of Vinkovci in the country’s east and grilled the giant sausage, made with 400 kilograms of pork, 10 kilos of salt, 2.5 kilos of spices and 3.5 kilos of garlic bought for a local farm, the town hall said.
Organisers said the sausage was the world’s largest and could feed as many as 3000 people, but adding it was merely “training” for next year when they plan to produce a sausage measuring 1000 metres.
According to the Guinness Book of Records the longest-ever sausage made so far measured 392 metres and was made in Romania in December last year.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see for the next record breaker.

My Father was born in Macedonia so I’m trying to find Macedonian, Bulgarian, Croatian, and Serbian food related sites, and what few related restaurants, delis, and markets, there are in Southern California, to visit, and add to my growing lists in my sidebar.
Greek I can find, easy, and plan to visit in my quest to connect more with the culture of my Father, but there are few of the other eateries, and markets, in Socal, it seems. ;-D

Thanks for your comment. I wish there were more websites related to Balkan food especially in English. I would love to learn more about the cuisine. I also hope to write more articles about it in the future.

I may only be HALF Macedonian, but I’m ALL M…um, hee, hee! ;-D
Seriously, I recently did a post riffing off a humor piece I found, “You know you are a Macedonian…” by essentially displaying my ignorance of my Fathers culture, and got responses wondering how I could even call myself Macedonian, if I don’t know the culture, or live it.
As I wrote in response I can do so, if for no other reason than because of my DNA. ;-D
I couldn’t do anything about the choices my Father made to not teach his kids the language, and culture, but I can make up for that a little bit, by educating myself, now, in ways that interest me.
One such interest is Food. ;-D
