Need a spaetzle press?

[ 0 ] May 2, 2009 |

A spaetzle press is a very handy item to have if your interested in making your own eggs noodles and dumplings. Although, there are some traditional techniques that you can do at home which don’t require the use of a spaetzle press. Overall, it will save you a lot of time and hassle.

There are several different spaetzle press models available. One of the most popular devices is one that features a flat rectangular body with perforated holes in it (as shown in the photo). The device is placed above a pot of boiling water and is filled with dough. It is then moved back and forth like a grater allowing the dough to drop directly into the water.

Another common type is made of stainless steel with a hinge that compresses dough using a handle. You can also substitute by using a potato ricer.

Spaetzle presses are fairly inexpensive and widely available at most cooking stores.
