My Travel Photos: apple strudel

| September 18, 2009 | 0 Comments

No trip to Hungary is complete without enjoying a really delicious strudel pastry.

Apple strudel.

Strudel with apple filling inside. The layered pastry gained its popularity during the Austro-Hungarian empire (1867-1918).

This photo was taken at the First Strudel House of Pest. The cafe has been in operation since 2007 and is located within a historical building built in 1812. Its mission is to preserve the Hungarian tradition of strudel making.

The menu offers various types of strudels such as raisin-cottage cheese, apple-poppy seeds, and vanilla cream to name a few.
