My travel photos: rákóczi túrós & opera cake
Rákóczi Túrós was invented by Hungarian pastry chef János Rákóczi. It contains a layer of short crust which is topped with curd cheese, a lattice of meringue and apricot jam.
There are a lot of amazing places to have dessert in Budapest but Callas Café is one place that shouldn’t be missed. Located next to the famous State Opera House, it features an impressive Art Deco styled interior with elegant furnishings.
Opera Cake is a type of French cake. It is now widely known around the world.
I had their Rákóczi Túrós, a traditional Hungarian dessert which was quite good.
However, it was their decadent Opera Cake that made my visit so worthwhile. It was incredibly rich, smooth, and creamy. It was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had in my life. Outstanding!
If you’re looking to indulge after dinner or a show – this is the place to be.
Callas also offers full breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
