My Travel Photos – Viennese Frankfurter
Viennese Frankfurters with a bread roll. A choice of spicy mustard or ketchup is often included with the meal.
Würstelstands can be found all over the city of Vienna.
These food stalls serve a wide range of sausages and refreshments while staying open late at night.
Würstelstands are a well-known culinary tradition in Vienna. Most stalls are open from 8am to 4am.
I couldn’t resist trying a few of their specialties including the Viennese Frankfurter and the highly popular Käsekrainer, which is a grilled pork sausage stuffed with bits of cheese.
It was greasy but delicious!
Most Würstelstands can be found around the Ringstrasse. Other items on the menu include Bratwurst, a style of pork sausage and Currywurst, a hot pork sausage cut into slices and seasoned with curry sauce.
