Vanillecremeschnitte - one of the many rich desserts at Café Demel in Vienna.

Café Demel remains one of Vienna’s best confectioners.

Located near the Hofburg Palace, the cafe was founded in 1786 and serves a variety of classical cakes, tortes, and pastries.

I had a Vanillecremeschnitte which is a puff pastry filled with a thick layer of vanilla-flavoured whipped cream and topped with sugared icing. Quite rich and delicious.

Café Demel also has a section devoted to items for take-home purchase, like luxurious candies and rich chocolates.

This is a wonderful place to sit back and relax. I really enjoyed my time here.
