Have you ever thought about traveling to Slovenia?

This picturesque country is located in Central Europe touching the Alps and bordering the Mediterranean. It is often referred to as “the green peace of Europe”, boasting a wealth of natural wonders including sunny beaches, snow-capped mountains, forested slopes, plains covered in sunflowers, abundance of wildlife, and much more. Among it’s greatest asset, is the locals who have gained a reputation for their hospitality and friendliness.

Jure Gaspersic, owner and founder of Adventure Slovenia, shares his insight about his company and why you should consider visiting Slovenia.

Tell us about Adventure Slovenia?

Adventure Slovenia is a travel guide service that seeks to showcase all of the beauties of Slovenia to returning and first-time visitors alike. Promoting the idea that to truly understand a country means to interact with its many unique people and places, Adventure Slovenia seeks to provide the opportunity for its guests to see Slovenia through the eyes of a local while actively engaging with its culture and environment. Slovenia boasts a landscape that is as varied as the trips to discover it—hiking, biking and skiing through the Alps, sightseeing along the seaside, kayaking down the Krka River, wine tasting of the traditional Cvicek variety and discovering the storybook lanes of Ljubljana are just a sample of the excursions that Adventure Slovenia arranges for its guests.

How did it get started?

I have always held a deep appreciation for the country and has always been an avid adventurer myself. After working several years in adventure travel and tourism, I decided to combine my passion into a business and create a new top travel company in Slovenia.

What are your most popular tours?

With so many tours offered, everyone has a hard time picking a favorite! Lake Bled continues to be at the top of the traveler checklist. It holds the only true island in all Slovenia, complete with a medieval castle, and is set against a picturesque backdrop of the Alps. A visit to the Slovenian seaside is another popular trip, as guests have the chance to soak in the Adriatic sunshine that warms the roofs of the quaint villages dotting the coast. However, Adventure Slovenia’s true passion lies in providing its guests with the opportunity to experience Slovenia by actively interacting with the natural surroundings. Bike rides across the countryside are a favorite of locals and tourists alike, which is why Adventure Slovenia offers numerous tours of unique landscapes in accordance with the ability levels and desired length of its guests. Hiking and outdoor sightseeing are favorites of the summer, but Adventure Slovenia welcomes visitors throughout the year, with skiing and ice village visits being the favorite of the colder months.

Why do you think people should visit Slovenia? What are some of the best things to see and do?

Slovenia is a country full of natural and cultural wonders. The capital city of Ljubljana boasts an enormous array of heritage sites worthy of a visit. From its cultural museums to its stately parks, there is plenty to do for locals and tourists alike. Slovenian people are also a reason to visit the country in and of themselves. Due to its newly budding growth as a European destination, visitors will find that the Slovene people are fiercely proud of their country and love to show it off. The ever-present hospitality of its people combined with the seemingly infinite amount of activities has resulted in Slovenia becoming one of the top new destinations in Central Europe.

Do you think Slovenia will be as popular as other destinations in Europe?

As European tourism continues to grow, there is great potential for Slovenia to become one of the top destinations. Central and Eastern Europe hold a certain mystique and authenticity of culture that will always draw a steady stream of visitors curious to see the secrets tucked in between the Alps, nestled next to the Adriatic, and displayed in the smiles of the locals. Slovenia is a country that always holds more to discover, and travel to a place that continues to surprise and amaze its guests with its beauty

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

We encourage anyone who is an avid traveler, who holds an appreciation for cultural heritage but seeks out the unknown and who enjoys being active to come and see all that Slovenia has to offer. We would love the opportunity to show you the country that we love, and offer a warm Slovene welcome to everyone that comes to see the beauty that is Slovenia!
