Located in the southern part of Baranya County, just south of Pecs is Villány and Villánykövesd. These historical settlements are known for producing some of Hungary’s best red wines. Grape varieties grown here include Portugieser, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Pinot Noir. The Mediterranean climate of the area provides excellent conditions for the ripening of grapes.
