Fish market in Split

| October 21, 2011 | 0 Comments

Split’s fish market, known locally as “Ribarnica“, is located along Marmontova street, and is one of the main points of interest within the city. Fresh fish are brought in by local fishermen and the daily offer depends heavily on weather conditions. It opens early in the morning and closes around lunch time, giving locals enough time to buy their supplies for the day.

In the evenings, a restaurant located across from the market offers a wide variety of fresh seafood prepared in traditional Dalmatian style.

The market still follows old traditions in which fish are not refrigerated but placed on ice or other simple cooling methods.
