Mission

Our mission is to empower, connect, and inspire people to engage with Central and Eastern Europe.

In our efforts to reach our mission, we will:

Enrich the lives of our visitors by introducing or expanding their knowledge of Central and Eastern Europe through informative and engaging web media

Promote cross-cultural understanding and the region’s unique cultural identity

Utilize the latest technologies and social media tools to connect with our visitors

Our Team

Suzanne Urpecz, Owner & Editor

Hello, my name is Suzanne Urpecz and I’m the creator of “The Hungarian Girl“.

I’m a journalist with a culinary background. I originally started “The Hungarian Girl” site as a method for me to personally connect with my heritage but as the site grew, I recognized that it served as a resource for those with similar cultural backgrounds as well as for those who are seeking information on the region.

I do use the term “Central and Eastern Europe” to describe this website. Although, I want to make it very clear that each country within these regions has its own history, people, language, culture, and traditions.

It is my mission to inspire and promote a better understanding among the different nations within Central and Eastern Europe as well as encouraging both cultural diversity and unity.

For those who are just discovering the region for the first time, I hope this website gives you further insight into Central and Eastern Europe. As for those with ancestral ties, I hope you can connect with your heritage and cultural roots here.

Sincerely,
Suzanne Urpecz

Neil Egan, Co-creator & Technical Lead

Neil is my partner and oversees all of the technical aspects of the site. Besides working on The Hungarian Girl, Neil also works as a Manager of Information Technology at one of Canada’s largest charities and is owner/operator of Egan Computer Services, a local computer support & services provider for the Toronto GTA.
